11 Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Quotes
11 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' Quotes Robert Louis Stevenson made abstract history with his novel Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This account of the double character being exemplified during a clinical analysis has been told and re-told in adjustments since it was first distributed in 1886. The tale turned out to be well known to such an extent that the expression Jekyll and Hyde has come to mean somebody whose conduct changes dependent on the circumstance theyre in.â The Nature of Evil I slope to Cains apostasy, he used to state interestingly. I let my sibling go to the demon in his own particular manner. Mr. Gabriel Utterson, Chapter 1 The keep going I think; for, O poor old Harry Jekyll, if at any time I read Satans signature upon a face, it is on that of your new companion. Mr. Gabriel Utterson, Chapter 2 My feelings of dread slope to a similar point. Detestable, I dread, established - abhorrent made certain to come - of that association. Ay really, I trust you; I concede (for what reason, God alone can tell) is as yet sneaking in his casualties room. Indeed, let our name be retribution. Mr. Gabriel Utterson, Chapter 8 Statements About Fear It was for brief that I saw him, however the hair remained upon my head like plumes. Sir, if that was my lord, why had he a veil upon his face? Mr. Poole, Chapter 8 O God! I shouted, and O God! over and over; for there before my eyes - pale and shaken, and half blacking out, and grabbing before him with his hands, similar to a man reestablished from death - there stood Henry Jekyll! Dr. Lanyon, Chapter 9 On Jekyll and Hyde Behavior You start an inquiry, and its like beginning a stone. You sit unobtrusively on the highest point of a slope, and away the stone goes, beginning others, and by and by some tasteless old winged creature (the last you would have thought of) is thumped on the head in his own back nursery and the family need to change their name. No, sir, I make it a standard of mine: the more it would appear that Queer Street, the less I inquire. Mr. Enfield, Chapter 1 I am horrendously arranged, Utterson; my position is an exceptionally bizarre - an extremely abnormal one. It is one of those undertakings that can't be retouched by talking. Dr. Jekyll, Chapter 3 With consistently, and from the two sides of my knowledge, the good and the learned person, I in this way attracted consistently closer to reality, by whose fractional disclosure I have been destined to such a horrendous wreck: that man isn't genuinely one, however two. Dr. Jekyll, Chapter 10 Sometime in the future, Utterson, after I am dead, you may maybe come to get familiar with the good and bad of this. I can't let you know. Dr. Lanyon, Chapter 6 On Endings I pledge to God I will never see him again. I tie my respect to you that I am finished with him in this world. It is all at an end. Also, for sure he doesn't need my assistance; you don't have any acquaintance with him as I do; he is protected, he is very sheltered; mark my words, he will never more be known about. Dr. Jekyll, Chapter 5 Here at that point, as I set out the pen and continue to seal up my admission, I bring the life of that miserable Henry Jekyll to an end. Dr. Jekyll, Chapter 10

Pros and Cons of Facebook Essay -- Social Networking, Social Media
Facebook Dangers Since understudies regularly post point by point and explicit data on Facebook (counting telephone numbers, addresses, class plans, social plans, and so forth.) you can be all the more effortlessly followed by outsiders (or even colleagues). Wholesale fraud can likewise be a critical danger of long range interpersonal communication. Individual subtleties like your complete name, names of your relatives, your telephone number, birthday, address, and work environment would all be able to be utilized by character hoodlums. Visa style profile photographs likewise make it simpler for character criminals to duplicate your online nearness. Catfishing: Begat from the autonomous film Catfish, which follows a movie producer who finds reality with regards to the online relationship he has been directing with a lady whom he has never met, catfishing happens when a client makes a bogus or profoundly misrepresented web-based social networking profile for the motivations behind leading a relationship on the web. A few profiles are made out of fatigue or forlornness, while others are made to get vengeance or cause humiliation to the focused on party. Basic signs[1] that you are being catfished can include: Powerlessness to contact the other party face to face - their mobile phone is broken or has been taken, they won't use Skype or SnapChat, they won't or can't meet you openly notwithstanding the earnestness of your relationship. Their photos have all the earmarks of being exceptionally altered, adapted, or in any case unreasonable. You can look through Google by picture document so as to decide if the photographs you've gotten are authentic. Subtleties of their own life reliably changing, or they have a biography that appears to be mind blowing or abnormal. Random UGA Admission Thoughts for 2019 - UGA Undergraduate Admissions
Random UGA Admission Thoughts for 2019 - UGA Undergraduate Admissions Random UGA Admission Thoughts for 2019 It is the start of 2019, and a wide range of things are happening in the UGA Admissions Office. We have just closed down the freshman application for admission, we will open the transfer application for summer/fall 2019 on January 22nd, and we will be spending the next two and a half months or so hiding away in our offices as we read admission files. As such, here are some Admissions Thoughts as we move forward. The application deadline for freshman was 1/1, and the document deadline is 1/8 for materials. The required documents for freshmen are an official transcript and a counselor school report/recommendation (not a school profile). As well, any test scores must be requested to be sent to us from the testing agency by 1/8 (not an in office deadline), and the last test scores we can use were from the December SAT/ACT. If things are sent in after 1/8, we might be able to use them, but we cannot make any promises. If the item in question shows up on the status page, that means we have imported it into your file as on time. We have a very large freshman applicant pool, with the overall number of EA and RD applicants together totaling 29,500+. Some of these applicants will not submit all the required items, so the official number of complete applications will not be known until later (but I expect it will be close to 29,000). Starting on 1/14, our office will be in quiet time, which means our counselors will not be available to take calls and any email replies will have some delays. Remember, UGA does not use designated interest as a decision factor, so there is no need to send a note to the counselor assigned to your school/area to let them know UGA is #1 on your list. Right now, just make sure all materials are in on time and have patience. When your file is complete, you will see all the checklist items on the status page have a green check and the words Awaiting Decision show under the UGA counselor next to the Application Status indicator. If you applied through the Coalition application system, please make sure to complete the Self Reported grades form off the UGA admissions status page. We do not use the complicated Coalition self reported grades section, as our form is much less complicated and matches what the non-Coalition applicants completed. This helps us to keep on track with our decision time lines, so thank you. Once you have submitted an application, we cannot go back into it and make changes. If you need to add something to your freshman application that you left out or wanted to submit, either use the Update Form (for deferred EA applicants) or update it as a part of a resume that you upload on your status page. On January 22nd, the Transfer application for Summer/Fall terms will open. There is no difference in our review of summer vs fall applicants, so select the term that you truly will be attending. If you are admitted for summer and do not attend, you cannot just show up for fall and enroll. Acceptance is only for the term for which you were admitted. The consideration level for Summer/Fall have changed for transfer applicants with 30-59 transferable hours, and it is now a 3.30 transfer GPA. Remember, this is not a cut point or requirement, but instead is the GPA for us to begin considering a transfer student with 30-59 hours for transfer admission. Roughly 5,000 freshmen applied during the last 3 days before the RD deadline, so please be patient as we match up documents. Of the 12,000+ RD applicants, roughly 65% of them have complete files. As such, 4,000+ still need to get in materials and/or test scores. We will continue to award scholarships through the end of March, so please be patient as we get through the freshman file reading, the transfer decisions and the scholarship process. I cannot, will not, and am not able to guess about any decisions. I feel like I am Dr. Seuss when I say this (I will not guess in a box, I will not guess with a fox). Remember, senior courses and grades are still very important. We will be looking closely at the final transcripts of all enrolling students in the summer, and we will contact any student who has serious declines in their grades (large % of Cs or have D/F grades). If all indicators point to a student having problems freshman year, we would rather take steps prior to enrollment then ask a student to leave or lose any merit aid after their first year at UGA. Have a great last semester, enjoy your final months of being a senior, and I wish everyone well in the overall college admissions process! Go Dawgs!

Jazz Music Essays - Jazz Genres, African-American Music, Jazz
Jazz Music What is Jazz? According to the dictionary, jazz is defined as, "A kind of syncopated, highly rhythmic music originated by Southern blacks in the late 19th century" ("Jazz" 232). But, everyone should at least agree that jazz is the mother of all music, and is referred to as the only art form originating in the United States ("History 101" 2). America was home to immigrants from all over Europe and beyond who wished to build a new life, or just needed to escape from the old. These people, often thought of as second-class, brought their culture with them to America, expressed it musically, and changed the music world as we know it today. Most early jazz was played in small marching bands or by solo pianists. Besides ragtime and marches, the repertoire included hymns, spirituals, and blues. The bands played this music at picnics, weddings, parades, and funerals. Characteristically, the bands played hymns on the way to funerals and lively marches on the way back. Although blues and ragtime had arisen independently of jazz, and continued to exist alongside it, these genres influenced the style and forms of jazz and provided important vehicles for jazz improvisation. Around the turn of the 20th century, the earliest fully documented jazz style emerged, centered in New Orleans, Louisiana. This city is often called the "cradle of jazz" ("History 101" 3). In this style, the trumpet carried the melody, the clarinet played showy countermelodies, and the trombone played rhythmic slides and sounded the root notes of chords or simple harmony. Below this basic trio, the tuba or string bass provided a bass line and drums the rhythmic accompaniment. New Orleans jazz was just the beginning of an entire sweep across the county. The first true virtuoso soloist of jazz was Louis Armstrong. He was a dazzling improviser, technically, emotionally, and intellectually. He changed the format of jazz by bringing the soloist to the forefront, and in his recording groups, the "Hot Five" and the "Hot Seven" (Porter 2), demonstrated that jazz improvisation could go far beyond simply ornamenting the melody. He became the first well known male jazz singer, and also set standards for all later jazz singers, by creating scat singing: singing meaningless syllables instead of words, not unlike instrumental improvisation. During the 1920s, large groups of jazz musicians began to play together, forming the big bands that became so popular in the 1930s and early 1940s, (the swing era). The development of the big band can be majorly credited to the achievement of Duke Ellington and his revolutionary song, "It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing" ("Jazz Music" 54). This soon became the new word for music played with a happy, relaxed beat. A new style also started in the early 1940's when a group of musicians started experimenting with more complicated chord patterns and melodic ideas. This group included trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, alto saxophonist Charlie Parker, and pianists Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell. This new approach became known as bebop, or bop. Most bop musicians had exceptional techniques that enabled them to play long, dazzling phrases with many notes. In the 1940's and 1950's, jazz began to lose its reputation as a "lowdown" music, and gained acceptance among intellectuals and college students. Jazz concerts became popular. Duke Ellington and other big band leaders gave many concerts, and a group of improvising musicians made a series of nationwide tours called "Jazz at the Philharmonic" ("Jazz Music" 56). Jazz music was revolutionary and is still changing and improving, even today. The music world today would not be the same without the influence of these amazing and breathtaking musicians.
